Description
C1945, Nicolas Augustin Chappuy, Paris Circa. 1770
This violin dates from Chappuy’s later period in Paris. He was originally born in Mirecourt around 1730 and returned from Paris to Mirecourt later in his life, where he died in 1784. He was a better maker than his brother Nicolas Charles. This violin has a sweet, gutsy and earthy sound; a bigger sound than expected of its small size. It is very comfortable to play in the left hand.
