Description
C4091 Joseph Chevrier, Mirecourt, Circa. 1890
Joseph Chevrier was born 1833-1911. As son of violin maker Claude Chevrier, Joseph was manager of the Thibouville-Lamy workshop and is considered to be the best violin maker of his time in Mirecourt. His work is of similar quality to the luthier Colin-Mezin (who was a pupil of N. F. Vuillaume in Brussels). This violin shows its reminiscence to the latter in its ‘f’ wing eyebrows.
Clear, even and smooth sound, which makes it ideal as a good orchestral instrument.
Good condition, labelled and signed with ink on back
Back length 358 mm
