Maker: J.Reynolds, 1990
City: Leeds
Description:
John Reynolds with his son Simon, ran Scheerers, an old established music shop in Leeds. In the 80’s John spent more and more time developing his bow making and eventually reaching a resale agreement with Stentor Music company in Reigate, Surrey. He made two grades of bow with only the top grade attaining the virtue of his stamp: J.Reynolds. The bow is very English in style – one gets the impression you are looking at a late Hill bow. This example has a brown octagonal stick of pernambuco, silver headplate. I sold many of these bows in the 80’s and 90’s. They are sometimes numbered under the frog.
