C6102, Cello by Gadda, Gaetano 1949 Mantova (Property of a Soloist) 

An exceptional example of the work of Gaetano Gadda in Mantua 1949. The Two piece back of very even and fine rippled maple, the neck and ribs of similar wood. The front of very even grained Spruce. The whole is tastefully coated in a warm orange brown varnish. The label reads: GAETANO GADDA di MANTOVA/ Premiato con Medaglia d’Oro/ Allievo de STEFFANO SCAREMPELLA/ Fece in  Mantova anno 1949.  

Branded on the lower rib, the front and on the label GG (enclosed in a square)  

It’s clear when looking at this cello why Gadda won gold prize.

Condition: Very good, a few signs of use and crack free.
